This summer we've had the pleasure of working with dairy farmers supplying the Co-op supermarket across Wales and its bordering counties. Our focus has been on helping farmers to quantify and understand their farms' interaction with the environment. We all know our farms provide excellent environmental benefits and rich biodiversity, but having the data is key to telling, and selling, the story!!
Through one-on-one kitchen table meetings, we've walked farmers through their farm data on carbon, soil health, and biodiversity. These sessions have helped them identify how their current practices and long-term business goals can also create positive outcomes for the environment.
This work extended to group meetings in Shropshire, Cheshire, and Somerset, where Sam introduced key findings from the data and led farm walks. These walks were a chance to learn about hedgerow management, scoring, and the vital role these habitats play in the British farmed landscape.
We're looking forward to more workshops this autumn, where Ben will be supporting farmers in using their data to identify win-wins for the farmers to enhance environmental impact and farm resilience, alongside working towards their own business and personal goals.

Our work with the CDG group is delivered as part of the Soil Association Exchange.
