Sam Alexander James BSc (Hons)
BASIS Registered Environment Advisor & FACTS FQA FE/7108
Aberystwyth Agriculture graduate Sam Alexander James has vast experience in agriculture, food production and sustainable land management throughout the UK. Increasingly focussed on supporting farmers and processors to meet their sustainable production goals, Sam brings together her practical experience of livestock farming alongside research and data to equip both the boardroom and farm office with the tools and knowledge required to achieve their aligned goals.
As a FACTS Qualified advisor, Sam is proficient in assessing crop nutrient requirements, farm nutrient balance, delivering soil health plans, soil improvement plans and advising on all things NVZ and Agri-Environment Schemes.
With experience as a Group Facilitator she has led Farming Connect’s Junior Agri Academy program since 2023, hosted workshops on behalf of the Soil Association Exchange and has spent time as a Knowledge Exchange manager within AHDB.
Ben James BSc (Hons)

Aberystwyth Agriculture graduate Ben Lloyd James brings a valuable combination of hands-on farming experience and practical, evidence-based consultancy to Brynmair. Having worked across a wide range of Welsh livestock systems, from organic dairy to upland sheep and running his own farm, Ben has a grounded understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing farm businesses today.
With extensive experience in grazing management, data analysis and farm benchmarking across dairy, beef and sheep enterprises, Ben works closely with farmers to improve productivity, efficiency and long-term resilience. As a RoMS Accredited Mobility Scorer, he delivers on-farm lameness assessment and advisory services across dairy herds throughout Wales, achieving measurable reductions in lameness incidence for his clients. Ben is proficient in grazing management platforms including Agrinet, and supports clients with business planning and farm development at every stage of their farming journey.
A recipient of the Hybu Cig Cymru scholarship, Ben's research into reducing greenhouse gas emissions in pasture-based livestock systems reflects his belief that environmental performance and farm profitability go hand in hand, and that the best advice is always rooted in the realities of working farms.
